Knock down of Klf15 in nephrocytes using the Scer\GAL4^Dot.PK driver results in defects in adult heart period (which is longer than in controls due to a longer diastolic interval) and both the end-systolic and the end-diastolic diameters are greater than in controls.

A conditional knock-down of Klf15 in adult nephrocytes using the Scer\GAL4^Hand.PA (using GAL80ts to limit the stage of expression) compromises their function (without compromising their development) and leads to cardiomyopathy (longer heart period, longer diastolic interval, greater end-systolic and the end-diastolic diameters).

Scer\GAL4^Dot.PK- or Scer\GAL4^Hand.PA-mediated expression of Klf15^JF02420 leads to the absence of pericardial nephrocytes in adults.

When Klf15^JF02420 is expressed specifically in adults via Scer\GAL4^Hand.PA (using the TARGET system), the nephrocytes' endocytic function in the adult heart and ability to scavenge silver nitrate in vivo are significantly reduced.
