Expression of aurAKK100143 under the control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU leads to a decrease in the brain volume, but an increase in the percentage of glial cells and neuroblasts in mitosis. It also leads to a decrease in the proportion of G1 phase glia, but an increase in the number of glial cells in S phase and in G2/M in third instar larvae.

Expressing aurAKK100143 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU results in third instar larval brain neuroblasts showing some chromosomal aberrations which are almost absent in controls. Upon X-ray irradiation, these larvae show slower repair of DNA damage (i.e. slower dissolution of γ-H2Av foci) than irradiated controls.

Expression of aurAKK100143 under the control of Scer\GAL4insc-Mz1407 leads to a significant increase in brain volume, a significant increase in the number of neuroblasts per brain lobe, and a significant increase in the proportion of neuroblasts in mitosis, as well as a significant decrease in the number of neuroblasts in S phase, and a significant increase in the number of neuroblasts in G2/M phase, but no significant difference in the number of neuroblasts in G1 phase, as compared to controls.

Expression of aurAKK100143 under the control of Scer\GAL4repo leads to a significant decrease in third instar larval brain volume, a significant decrease in both glial and neuroblast numbers, a significant increase in the proportion of mitotic glia and neuroblasts, and a significant increase in the proportion of apoptotic neuroblasts; as well as a significant increase in third instar glial cell apoptosis, a significant increase in the proportion of glia in G2/M or S phase and a significant decrease in the proportion of glia in G1 phase, as compared to controls.

Expression of aurAKK100143 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR54H02 in third instar larvae does not significantly alter brain lobe volume, glial or neuroblast numbers, proportion of mitotic glia, or proportion of apoptotic glia, as compared to controls.
