The expression of E(Pc)JF03101 under the control of Scer\GAL4NP1624 leads to increased numbers of cyst stem cells in testes (Yan- or Zfh-1-positive cells), associated with cyst stem cell differentiation defects, with a high proportion of cells abnormally co-expressing Zfh-1 (marker of early stage cyst cells) and Eya (marker of later stage cyst cells).

Unlike control testes, the expression of E(Pc)JF03101 under the control of Scer\GAL4NP1624 leads to frequent expansion of early stage germ cells from the apical tip region of the testes; in some there are structures resembling stem cell- or GB-like tumors with round spectrosome structures, while some other resemble spermatogonial tumors with more than 16 cells; cells within one cyst show both dotted spectrosome and branched fusome structures, as they undergo asynchronous cell cycle; some cells also express early cyst cell markers (Yan and Zfh-1). The excess early germ cell phenotype of Scer\GAL4NP1624>E(Pc)JF03101 is significant;y enhanced by E(Pc)1 heterozygosity.

The expression of E(Pc)JF03101 under the control of Scer\GAL4upd3.PA does not lead to any detectable cellular defect in the testes.

Expression of E(Pc)JF03101 leads to: increased pupal lethality with the adult survivors displaying small and rough eye phenotype (with the Scer\GAL4ey.PH driver), rough adult eyes (with Scer\GAL4GMR.PF), deformed or slightly deformed/curved (at 18[o]C) wings (with Scer\GAL4nub.PK), increased pupal lethality with adult survivors showing held-out wings with blisters or vein defects (at 18[o]C) - incomplete posterior crossvein, ectopic vein material (with Scer\GAL4en.PU).

The adult eye phenotype induced by expression of E(Pc)JF03101 under the control of either Scer\GAL4ey.PH or Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is suppressed by expression of httGD14943 or by combination with httint.

Co-expression of E(Pc)JF03101 and p53Scer\UAS.A.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4fkh.PH results in small salivary glands and high levels of apoptotic cell death.
