The adulthood-only expression of PcNIG.32443R (using Gal80[ts]) driven by Scer\GAL4C587, but not by Scer\GAL4VP16.nos.UTR, Scer\GAL4A3.eya or Scer\GAL4hh-Gal4, leads to adult testes exhibiting a significant increase in the number of cyst stem cells, a reciprocal decrease of differentiated cyst cells, an increase in the number of early stage germline cells, and a strong increase in the number of cells undergoing cell division at the apical testis tip, as compared to controls. This Scer\GAL4C587-dependent expression also leads cell non-autonomous induction of both somatic (Zfh1) and germline (Vasa) lineage markers in some somatic-derived cells, as compared to controls.
