Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRCsChrimson.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with 617 nm (red) light) of Scer\GAL4nompC.PC cells, or the combination of Scer\GAL4nompC.PC and Scer\GAL4Gr66a.1.8 cells, in adults results in induction of proboscis retraction due to stimulation during feeding, compared to controls; in the case of Scer\GAL4nompC.PC cell activation alone there is no induction of labellar spread, compared to controls; activation of Scer\GAL4nompC.PC cells in the labellum results in activation of one pair of Scer\GAL4GMR58H01-expressing motor neurons in the brain with a 2 ms delay, compared to baseline.

Inhibition (using Ctet\tetXTNT-LC.UAS) of Scer\GAL4nompC.PC cells in starved adult males does not affect preference for softer sucrose-containing agarose, compared to controls.
