Detailed Description

The few htsnull/Df(2R)BSC26 transheterozygous adult escapers exhibit rough eyes and have no wing defects. Larval garland nephrocytes frequently show a discontinuous slit diaphragm.

Recessive lethal at 25[o]C. A few escapers emerge when flies are raised at 18[o]C.

Flies with htsnull mutant eyes show a strongly defective phenotype in the medulla. The overall structure is disrupted. Axons lose their regular array and clump together. Some R8 axons overshoot M3 or stop prematurely. Abnormally thick bulb-like structures at the axon termini and at the M1 layer are observed.

The number and size of R8 axon swellings seen in Scer\GAL4GMR.PU, gogoScer\UAS.T1 animals is increased in a htsnull/+ background.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

htsnull/Df(2R)BSC26 transheterozygotes rescued to adulthood by the co-expression of Hsap\ADD1UAS.Tag:HA with either Hsap\ADD3UAS.Tag:V5 or Hsap\ADD3E659Q.UAS.Tag:V5 under the control of Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PL show a mostly normal heart function: significant decrease in diastolic diameter but not measurable changes in heart period, cardiac output, fractional shortening, or arrhythmia index). There are no defects in nephrocyte number.
