Expression of InRA1325D.Scer\UAS enhances the R8 photoreceptor phenotype seen when gogoScer\UAS.T1 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, resulting in an increase in the size of the blob-like structures seen in the medulla M1 layer. Many of the R8 axons terminate before reaching their final destination, the M3 layer. A number of axons also stop in the medulla M1 layer.
One copy of InRex15 suppresses the R8 photoreceptor phenotype seen when gogoScer\UAS.T1 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF. 12% of R8 axons form blob-like structures at the M1 layer.
One copy of each of Ilp54 and Df(3L)Ilp1-4 suppresses the R8 photoreceptor phenotype seen when gogoScer\UAS.T1 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF. 6% of R8 axons form blob-like structures at the M1 layer.

The number and size of R8 axon swellings seen in Scer\GAL4GMR.PU, gogoScer\UAS.T1 animals is increased in a htsnull/+ background.
gogoScer\UAS.T1/Scer\GAL4sev.PM181 fails to rescue gogoD869
The photoreceptor axon projection defects seen in animals in which the retina is homozygous for gogoD869 (induced using the eyFLP method) are not rescued by expression of gogoFL.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4sev.PM181.
The abnormal bundling behaviour of mutant axons in small homozygous gogoD869 clones of R7/R8 photoreceptor cells is rescued by expression of gogoFL.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU.
