Inhibition (using Ctet\tetXTNT-LC.UAS) of Scer\GAL4GMR78A01 cells in larvae significantly reduces nociceptive movement responses following stimulation with a von Frey filament, compared to controls; there is no effect on the response to gentle touch, compared to controls.
Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRCsChrimson.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with 625 nm (red) light) of a subset of Scer\GAL4GMR78A01 cells (activation restricted using Scer\GAL80ppk.1.0) in larvae results in continuous rolling without contractions in the absence of pain stimuli, this is not seen in controls.
