ScerGAL4GMR94B10 drives expression in mushroom body extrinsic neurons that innervate mushroom body gamma lobe slice 3 and mushroom body beta' lobe slice 1.
Inhibition (using Ctet\tetXTNT-LC.UAS) of Scer\GAL4GMR94B10 cells significantly reduces larval escape behavior in response to HCl application, compared to controls.
Optogenetic activation (using Crei\ChR1::Vcar\ChR1::Vcar\ChR2ReaChR.UAS.Citrine with 617 nm (red) light) of Scer\GAL4GMR94B10 cells in larvae results in significant induction of nociceptive rolling behavior in the absence of nociceptive stimuli, compared to controls; this no longer occurs when activation is restricted to a smaller subset of Scer\GAL4GMR94B10 cells using Scer\GAL80tsh-GAL80.
Inhibition (using Hsap\KCNJ2UAS.EGFP) of Scer\GAL4GMR94B10 neurons, in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to 1 day prior to training and testing, does not affect 3 hour aversive olfactory memory, compared to controls.
