The expression of shgHMS00693 under the control of Scer\GAL4slbo.2.6 leads to border cell migration failure or delay in all egg chambers, despite of no cluster integrity defects.

The expression of shgHMS00693 under the control of Scer\GAL4upd1.PU leads to frequent dissociation of the border cell cluster.

Clonal expression of shgHMS00693 (under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU) in male pupal A8a epithelia cells induces an increase junction growth rate if expressed in one of the cells forming the junction, as compared to control junctions (formed by two wild-type cells).

Knockdown of shg through expression of shgHMS00693 in nurse cells (under the control of Scer\GAL4otu.T:Hsim\VP16, Scer\GAL4nos.PG and Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16) results in border cells migrating more slowly than normal and to exhibit a hyperpolarized morphology. A total of 64% of protrusions from border cell clusters migrating between nurse cells are directed toward the oocyte.

Knockdown of shg through expression of shgHMS00693 in the germline, under the control of Scer\GAL4slbo.2.6 results in 63% of protrusions from border cell clusters migrating between wild-type nurse cells are directed toward the oocyte. Border cell clusters do not split apart in this mutant.

Knockdown of shg specifically in polar cells, through expression of shgHMS00693 under the control of Scer\GAL4upd.PU results in 73% of border cell clusters splitting apart.
