Adult ebd1240/ebd1Df5,ebd2136 mutants show significant increase in the number of progenitor cells (intestinal stem cells and enteroblasts) in the midgut and unlike in controls frequently display chains or clusters of progenitor cells, the penetrance of this latter phenotype is increased further in ebd1Df5,ebd2136/ebd1240,ebd2136 double mutants.

The adult midgut epithelium defects (increased number of progenitor cells, cell polarity and adhesion defects along with epithelium multi-layering) can be rescued by combination with ebd1240/Df(3L)ED9698,ebd2136.

ebd2136 weakly suppresses the apoptosis of photoreceptor cells which is seen in ApcQ8 homozygotes.
