Excision of P{EPgy2}EY06424 resulting in a ~500bp deletion that includes the Lpt promoter and 61bp of the Lpt open reading frame. No Lpt is detectable in homozygotes.
Inferred boundaries of a ~500 bp deletion resulting from the imprecise excision of P{EPgy2}LptEY06424, which includes the region upstream of Lpt as well as 61 bp of coding sequence.
Homozygous lethal, with the majority of mutants failing to survive beyond the second or early third larval instar stages. Many of the dying larvae retain larval mouth hooks from the L2 molt, and in some cases L2 and L3 mouth hooks are malformed, indicating a defect in cuticle shedding. Mutant larvae exhibit sluggish movement, even though they retain normal olfactory functions, touch sensitivity and phototaxis. Feeding mutant larvae with ecdysone does not affect these phenotypes.
Homozygous mutants eventually stop moving and appear to attempt pupariation. However, they fail to evert their spiracles and frequently turn brown but never produce a pupal cuticle. Many larvae develop interior necrotic patches, suggestive of larval hematopoiesis defects.
Lpt1/Lpt[+] is an enhancer of posterior crossvein phenotype of dppd-ho/dpps1
Lpt1/Lpt[+] is an enhancer of wing vein L4 phenotype of dpps1
Lpt1/Lpt[+] is an enhancer of posterior crossvein phenotype of dpps1
Lpt1/Lpt[+], dpps1 has wing vein L2 phenotype
Lpt1/Lpt[+], dppd-ho/dpps1 has wing vein L2 phenotype
Lpt1/Lpt[+], dppd-ho/dpps1 has posterior crossvein phenotype
Approximately 4% of trans-heterozygous dpps1/Lpt1 flies show a shortened posterior crossvein.
When dpps1 is homozygous, Lpt1/+ flies display shortened L4, and occasionally, L2 wing veins, in addition to the enhancement of the posterior crossvein phenotype.
Approximately 6% of flies trans-heterozygous for Lpt1/dpps1 dppd-ho display a shortened posterior crossvein.
Lpt1/+ flies homozygous for both dpps1 and dppd-ho show enhancement of the posterior crossvein phenotype relative to trans-heterozygotes, and shortened L2 and L4 veins.
Df(2R)or-BR11/Lpt1 is rescued by Scer\GAL4unspecified/LptUAS.Tag:HA
Expression of LptScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under Scer\GAL4 control restores viability to Lpt1/Df(2R)or-BR11 animals.
