Detailed Description

Homozygous dpps1 mutant flies display a shortened L4 vein and a less penetrant posterior crossvein phenotype.

Flies homozygous for both dpps1 and dppd-ho display shortened L4, and occasionally, L2 and posterior crossveins.

Mutant flies have a mild wing vein loss phenotype.

Wing vein 4 fails to reach the wing margin.

10 to 35% of homozygous males show loss of claws, and 35 to 70% of homozygous males have short veins.

Distal portion of wing vein L4 is missing.

dpps1 dppd-ho double mutant chromosome partially suppresses the penetrance of the hhMrt phenotype.

Coordinate mutant.

Terminal gap in LII and LIV, a short subterminal extra vein anterior to LIII of the dorsal component and rarely an extra vein parallel to LII.

Affect adult wing venation.

Terminal gaps at the distal ends of longitudinal wing veins L2 and L4. Wings also have very small pieces of extra venation between the longitudinal veins in the distal part of the wing blade and occasional indentation in the nota.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Approximately 4% of trans-heterozygous dpps1/Lpt1 flies show a shortened posterior crossvein.

When dpps1 is homozygous, Lpt1/+ flies display shortened L4, and occasionally, L2 wing veins, in addition to the enhancement of the posterior crossvein phenotype.

Approximately 6% of flies trans-heterozygous for Lpt1/dpps1 dppd-ho display a shortened posterior crossvein.

Lpt1/+ flies homozygous for both dpps1 and dppd-ho show enhancement of the posterior crossvein phenotype relative to trans-heterozygotes, and shortened L2 and L4 veins.

dpps1/dpps1 Snr1E1/Snr1R3 animals show suppression of the Snr1 extra wing vein phenotype and enhancement of the dpp loss of vein phenotype in L5.

dpps1 nmoadk2 flies show an enhancement of the nmoadk2 ectopic wing vein phenotype, especially in the anterior of the wing blade near vein L2.

The dpps1 mutant phenotype is enhanced if the flies are also hemizygous for mxcG43; double mutant flies show increased venation defects and reduced eyes. Does not enhance the leg phenotypes of mxcG43 hemizygotes.

dpps1/dpps1; sogEP2/sog+ wings and dpps1/dpps1; sogEP3/sog+ wings exhibit significantly truncated veins and posterior crossvein. dpps1/dpps1; sogEP7/sog+ wings exhibit significantly truncated veins. Introduction of dpps1 to det1 homozygotes causes severe truncation of the posterior crossvein and wing vein L4.

tkv4, tkv5, tkv7, tkv427 and Df(2L)tkv2 fail to complement dpp short vein alleles for the wing vein defect.
