ScerGAL4ple.TH-C' drives expression in a subset of ple-positive dopaminergic neurons in the adult brain as well as in the thorax and abdomen.

ScerGAL4ple.TH-C' drives expression in 5 or fewer dopaminergic neurons in each cluster where it is expressed.

ScerGAL4ple.TH-C' drives expression in a subset of the dopaminergic neurons in the adult brain labelled by ScerGAL4ple.PF : around 3 PAL neurons, 5 PPM2 neurons and 6 PPL2 neurons. There was also some non-systematic expression in less than 1 neuron in the PAM and PPM1 clusters.

Thermogenetic activation (using TrpA1UAS.(B).cKa at 32[o]C) of a subset of Scer\GAL4ple.TH-C' cells (activation restricted using Scer\GAL80ple.TH-F) in adults in combination with a paired odor, does not result in any significant short-term associative olfactory memory, compared to controls; activation of this subset specifically during odor-stimulus pairing and not other time intervals significantly increases aversive, but not appetitive, short-term associative olfactory memory, compared to controls, and this enhancement is lost when activation is further restricted using Scer\GAL80ple.PU.

Inhibition (using shits.UAS.cUa at 32[o]C) of a subset of Scer\GAL4ple.TH-C' cells (activation restricted using Scer\GAL80ple.TH-F) in adults does not significantly affect short-term aversive of attractive associative olfactory memory, compared to controls.

Inhibition (using shi1.UAS at 32[o]C) of Scer\GAL4ple.TH-C' cells in adults does not affect startle-induced climbing behavior, compared to controls.

Thermogenetic activation (using TrpA1UAS.(B).cKa at 32[o]C) of Scer\GAL4ple.TH-C' cells in adults significantly reduces startle-induced climbing behavior, compared to controls.

Inhibition (using Hsap\KCNJ2UAS.EGFP) of Scer\GAL4ple.TH-C' cells, in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the adult stage, significantly reduces the number of animals capable of flight, compared to controls; there is also a significant reduction in the number of animals that display electrophysiological spiking in dorsal longitudinal indirect flight muscles in response to an air puff, compared to controls.
