Description

Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a deletion of 1522bp (nucleotides 2L:20852545..20854067 , release 5 genome coordinates) 3' to the original insertion site. The deletion removes part of twit.

Comment:

1523 bp deletion resulting from imprecise excision of P{GT1}BG01978, which removes the transcription start, first exon, and part of the first intron of twit as well as 43 bp of intergenic DNA. The published coordinates were claimed to be relative to R4 but they are actually R5 coordinates.

Detailed Description

The size of the synaptic terminal at the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) is normal in twit160/Df(2L)BSC105 larvae.

The frequency and amplitude of the spontaneous miniature excitatory junctional potential (EJP) at the NMJ are decreased in twit160/Df(2L)BSC105 larvae compared to wild type. The amplitude of the evoked EJP and membrane resting potential are normal at the mutant NMJ. Quantal content is increased compared to wild type.

Comments

The decrease in the frequency and amplitude of the spontaneous miniature excitatory junctional potential (EJP) at the neuromuscular junction which is seen in twit160/Df(2L)BSC105 larvae is rescued by expression of twitScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU, but not by expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW.
