      7-day old germaria expressing gbbScer\UAS.cUa via Scer\GAL4nos.PU have normal numbers of germline cell stems (GSCs) and cap cells. However, 63-day old germaria have a significantly greater number of GSCs and cap cells compared to controls, demonstrating increased maintenance rates. They also carry significantly more cysts than controls at this age. BrdU labelling rates are unaffected at young ages in the mutant germaria, but are significantly increased at 63-day old germaria compared to controls.
