Larvae expressing EgfrdsRNA.UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4ChAT.PU show decreased head-touch response.

Expression of EgfrdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 in intestinal stem cell (ISC) somatic flip-out clones (using tub-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression/clone induction) in the adult midgut does not cause any clone overgrowth and the number of mitotic cells per midgut is decreased compared to controls.

Expression of EgfrdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa in the midgut under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 completely inhibits midgut renewal and proliferation after Pseudomonas entomophila infection. Prolonged Egfr suppression in healthy animals (4 week)s leads to an almost complete loss of enteroblasts and an approximate 33% reduction of intestinal stem cells. In the short term however, Egfr suppression does not significantly alter the number of intestinal stem cells. Old enterocytes, generated before the induction of lineage marking are still present in aged midguts (~1 month), suggesting that enterocyte loss is also partially inhibited.

Similarly to wild-type, honey bee royal jelly supplemented diet leads to increased body size and shortened developmental time in Scer\GAL4P0206>EgfrdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa and Scer\GAL4Aug21>EgfrdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa flies. Royal jelly has no effect on body size or developmental time in Scer\GAL4ppl.PP>EgfrdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa flies. Similar results are observed in Scer\GAL4ppl.PP>EgfrdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa animals reared on a royalactin supplemented diet.

The increase in cell size in wild-type flies reared on royal jelly-supplemented medium is not observed in transgenic flies expressing Scer\GAL4ppl.PP>EgfrdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa.

Expression of EgfrdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa driven by Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 in adult midgut progenitor cells (AMPs) significantly decreases both the number and size of AMP clusters compared with control midguts from white prepupae.

The overgrowth and increased mitotic rate of intestinal stem cell somatic flip-out clones expressing cicKK100838 under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 (using tub-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression/clone induction) in the adult midgut cannot be suppressed by co-expression of EgfrdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa.

Intestinal stem cell proliferation found in flies expressing upd1Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 and Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B is completely inhibited when Egfr or Ras85D is down-regulated (through expression of either EgfrdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa or Ras85DdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 and Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B).
