AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.
Gene model reviewed during 5.46
May be component of a dicistronic gene (FBrf0191875); available data inconclusive.
There is only one protein coding transcript and one polypeptide associated with this gene

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
CheB42a is expressed in the sheath (thecogen) cells of a subset of gustatory sensilla in the prothoracic male legs. These same sensilla are also labelled by ScerGAL4Gr68a.PB and ScerGAL4Pbprp2.PS, although expression is found in different cells of each sensilla.
CheB42a protein is present in extracts from male front legs starting at one day after eclosion.
CheB42a protein isdetected only in male front legs. Expression can be detected in late pupae and 1-7 day old adults, with highest expression at day 3 but not in pharate adult legs.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
CheB42a is required for normal gustatory response to female cuticular hydrocarbon pheromones that modulate male behaviour.
