Drives expression in hemocytes, the medullary zone and posterior signaling cener of the lymph gland primary lobe, and in midgut enterocytes.

ScerGAL4upd3.PA drives expression in the medial fold of the wing hinge primordium, in a small region of the wing pouch, and a small domain corresponding the ventral body wall; expression does not overlap with that of upd1. ScerGAL4upd3.PA also drives expression in the embryonic/larval optic stalk, and in the posterior of the eye disc; expression is broader than that of native upd3 or upd1.

ScerGAL4upd3.PA drives weak expression in the copper cell region of the adult middle midgut (adult midgut regions R3a and R3b) and in part of the posterior midgut (adult midgut regions 4 and 5) under control conditions, but is more broadly detectable in midguts induced by bleomycin or bacterial infecton.

ScerGAL4upd3.PA drives weak expression in large-nucleated midgut enterocytes under basal conditions, but is strongly induced in flies infected with bacteria such as Ecc15.
