Homozygotes display cut wing and head capsule defects.

ct wing and vibrissae phenotype.

Homozygotes exhibit deletion of wing material from the margin resulting in the loss of 16% of wing tissue. Loss of tissue is caused by the lack of ct expression in the mechanoreceptors and noninnervating bristles, failure of these cells to differentiate results in cell death.

Extreme cut wing phenotype: loss of most bristles from entire wing margin and loss of cells from peripheral region of the wing blade.

cut wings displaced or missing vibrissae

ctL32, su(Hw)e2 double mutants display approximately 0.01 wing margin nicks per fly. The ctL32, su(Hw)e2 cut wing phenotype is dominantly enhanced by mutations at the 'Nipped' loci.

ctL32; su(Hw)e2 flies display rare wing margin nicks, most wings display a wild type phenotype. ctL32; su(Hw)e2 flies heterozygous for wgl-17, ap56f or vg1 display a weak ct wing phenotype, flies heterozygous for vgdd display a significant ct wing phenotype. Chie5.5; ctL32, mamg2.1; ctL32 and sd2; ctL32 double heterozygotes display a visible cut wing phenotype.
