AP-2α06694 mutants do not display defects in mushroom body lobe structure.

α-Adaptin06694 mutant larval brains contain supernumerary neuroblasts but few differentiated neurons in the central brain.

Salivary gland cell growth (which normally occurs in the third larval instar, starting at the distal end of the gland) is defective in α-Adaptin06694/α-Adaptin3 third instar larvae.

α-Adaptin06694 somatic mutant eye clones from animals raised in the dark and then exposed to 5 days of constant room light show signs of retinal degeneration, and large holes are evident in eye sections.

Slow moving larvae die as pupae. FM1-43 assay demonstrates the mutation impairs the formation of endocytotic synaptic vesicles.
