Frameshift 14 residues before the C terminus, which leads to a truncated protein.
Deletion of 1bp from codon 2690 causing a frameshift that changes the 14 carboxy terminal amino acid into a new sequence which is 23 amino acids in length.
Nnd-2 is a temperature-sensitive allele. In homozygous Nnd-1 mutants at 29[o]C, eyes are rough and reduced in size. They also show extreme wing notching and thickened wing veins.
Nnd-2 mutants exhibit elevated levels of asymmetry and reduced mean character size relative to Canton-S flies for thoracic bristles.
Nnd-2 mutants show significantly reduced mean character size for orbital bristles compared to Canton-S flies.
Wing margin is scalloped. Wing veins are slightly thickened.
Mutant flies have a variable mutant phenotype with a slightly increased or slightly decreased density of bristles in different regions of the thorax. Mutant cells in clones fail to prevent their wild type neighbours from becoming neural and more bristles than expected are of the wild type genotype.
Thickened wing veins with deltas and variably notched wing margins.
Nnd-2/Nnd-2 and Nnd-2/Nnd-1 flies resemble Nnd-1 homozygotes; Nnd-2/Nnd-3 heterozygotes are noncomplementary (Welshons). The Nnd-2 allele is temperature-sensitive; in homozygotes at 29oC, the eyes are small and rough (spl-like), wings have extreme notches, wing veins are thickened, tarsi are shortened and the mutants are semi-lethal as late pupae; at 25oC, the abnormalities are much less severe; at 18oC, the eyes are slightly spl-like, wings are nicked, wing veins are incomplete, some bristles are missing, and the mutants are semi-lethal as late pupae. Similar wing abnormalities in Nnd-1/Y; groE73/+ and Nnd-2/Y; groE73/+ males. RK1.
Wing notching and thickened veins when homozygous or hemizygous. Temperature sensitive rough eye phenotype at 18oC.
Homozygotes show late pupal semi-lethality at 18oC and 29oC. Homozygotes have small, rough eyes (like Nspl-1), extreme apical and marginal notches in the wing, thick wing veins and a shortened tarsus at 29oC. At 25oC, the Nspl-1-like eye phenotype, wing apical notching and thick wing vein phenotypes are seen. At 18oC, a weak Nspl-1-like eye phenotype, weak wing nicking, incomplete wing veins and missing bristles are seen.
Similar to and phenotypically non-complementary with Nnd-3.
Nnd-2 has eye phenotype, enhanceable by E(spl)[+]/E(spl)m8-HLH1

Phenotype is sensitive to specific alleles of wg. Shows weak allele-specific interaction with wgl-15 and wgS107, and strong allele-specific interaction with wgl-12 and wgS84.
