Homozygous female germline clones arrest oogenesis at stage 4.
When homozygous mutant somatic clones are made in the head, almost no bristle phenotype is seen.
Lethality acts in the late embryonic stages. Mutants show no gross morphological abnormalities. No nervous system defects are visible by stage 16.
