Expression of zfh1Scer\UAS.cPa in somatic cells under the control of Scer\GAL4A3.eya (restricted to adult stages using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) results in testes that are filled with undifferentiated cells. Small early stage germ cells are intermingled with excess somatic cells. The excess germ cells are primarily found together in pairs, although individual cells and larger groupings of spermatogonia are also present. The pairs of germ cells seen typically share a spherical fusome and, as in wild type, they are surrounded by somatic extensions. They cycle as single cells in locations far removed from the hub. Occasionally excess somatic cells accumulate without accompanying germ cells. Dividing somatic cells are often seen, even far from the hub.

Embryos expressing zfh1Scer\UAS.cPa under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B show a reduction in size of the DO1 muscles and the DO1 and DO2 muscles are more loosely associated compared to wild type. In addition, the number and size of the DA1 muscles is reduced.

Expression of zfh1Scer\UAS.cPa in the aCC/RP2 neurons, under the control of Scer\GAL4eve.RN2 can only partially rescue the grn7L/Df(3R)dsx3 or grnSPJ9/Df(3R)dsx3 motoneuron phenotype, with muscle 1/9 innervation increasing to 34% compared with the more severe (approximately 12%) grn7L/Df(3R)dsx3 or grnSPJ9/Df(3R)dsx3 mutant phenotype.

Comments

Expression of zfh1Scer\UAS.cPa under the control of the pan-mesodermal driver Scer\GAL4how-24B in zfh12 mutants rescues the lymph gland phenotype.
