    Detailed Description

numbS52F mutant MARCM clones show a mild ectopic neuroblast formation phenotype in the type II neuroblast lineage.

Homozygous clones in the larval brain do not show overproliferation in the ase[+] or PAN neuroblast lineages.

In numbS52F mutant clones, external sensory organs show cell-fate transformations: in 90.7%, four socket cells are present, in 7.4% there are two socket cells, one neuron and one sheath, and in 1.8% there are two hairs and two sockets. In embryos both maternally and zygotically mutant for numbS52F, 86% of all hemisegments show a complete loss of all sensory neurons. In numbS52F embryos, 100% of MP2 neuroblasts divide to generate two vMP2 cells, instead of one vMP2 and one dMP2 neuron. The division of GMC4-2a cells into RP2 and RP2sib cells is unaffected. In numbS52F stage 14-15 embryos, the DA1 precursors and DO1 precursors are absent, as FDA1 and FDO1 are transformed into their sibling cells. These embryos show no defects in the P2 lineage.

    Additional Comments
    Genetic Interactions
    Statement
    Reference

Expression of NcdsRNA.Scer\UAS in a numbS52F background increases the number of ectopic neuroblasts.

The modest overproliferation of neuroblasts seen in the larval brain in animals expressing aPKCCAAXWT.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL41407 at 18[o]C is weakly suppressed by numbS52F/+.

The overproliferation of larval brain neuroblasts seen in l(2)gl1/l(2)gl4 animals is weakly suppressed by numbS52F/+.

In CycAC8LR1; numbS52F double mutant embryos, the GMC4-2a cell differentiates into only one RP2 neuron, instead of a RP2 neuron and a RP2sib neuron.
