Df(1)su(s)R194-heterozygous clones in the larval eye disc are outcompeted by neighboring clones that also harbor one or two copies of RpL36+t4, as shown by their decreased clone size.

When clones of RpL36/+ (Df(1)su(s)R194/+) cells are generated in a wild-type background, making use of an RpL36+ transgene (RpL36+t4) linked to FRT80B, these cells are eliminated by cell competition.

Df(1)su(s)R194-heterozygous clones in the larval eye disc are outcompeted by neighboring clones that also harbor RpL36+t4); this phenotype is suppressed by homozygosity for RpS12G97D alone or in combination with RpS12G97D.2kb, but not by two copies of RpS12+t2, two copies of RpS12G97D.2kb, homozygosity for RpS12s2783 alone or homozygosity for RpS12s2783 in combination with RpS12+t2.

In RpS174 heterozygous larval wing discs, clones bearing two copies of RpL36+t4 do not compete with otherwise wild-type neighboring clones, as shown by their comparable clone size.

When clones of RpL36/+ (Df(1)su(s)R194/+) cells are generated in a wild-type background, making use of an RpL36+ transgene (RpL36+t4) linked to FRT80B, these cells are eliminated by cell competition. By contrast, clones of RpL36/+; Df(3L)H99/Df(3L)H99 cells survive in the imaginal discs and adult eye. Clones of RpL36/+; Df(3L)IRER/Df(3L)IRER do not survive.
