Neuronal expression of wgGD5007 under the control of Scer\GAL4futsch-C380, results in a small but significant decrease in bouton number.

Expression of wgGD5007 in the subperineurial glia cells, under the control of Scer\GAL4Gli-rL82, does not affect bouton number, but does significantly increase the mEJP amplitude in third instar larvae.

Inducible RNAi-mediated knockdown of wg in the adult mushroom bodies, through expression of wgGD5007 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.247.Switch, leads to impaired 24 hour long-term memory after spaced conditioning, but has no effect on 24 hour memory after massed training or 3 minute memory after 1X conditioning. The results from shock- and odour-avoidance tests in the induced flies are indistinguishable from those obtained in the uninduced control.

42 hours after pupation ommatidia with abnormal numbers of cone cells are seen when wgGD5007 is expressed under the control of the Scer\GAL4GMR.PU driver.

Adults expressing wgGD5007 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
