Expression of spzKK112908 driven in the fat body of male flies by Scer\GAL4r4 (or driven by Scer\GAL4yolk in female fat bodies) significantly decreases survival of flies in response to Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus or Enterococcus faecalis) and a fungus (Aspergillus fumigatus), compared to controls. Bacterial load (measured as colony forming units 24hr post infection) of S. aureus significantly increases in adult flies, compared to controls.
