In adult flies fed RU486, Mrp4EP3177 overexpressed by Scer\GAL4αTub84B.Switch.PK or Scer\GAL4Switch1.106 significantly improves survival rates in response to oxidative stress compared to wild type. Overexpression of Mrp4EP3177 by Scer\GAL4yolk increases survival rates in response to oxidative stress (paraquat) compared to wild type.
With RU486 feeding, Mrp4EP3177 overexpressed by Scer\GAL4αTub84B.Switch.PK (but not Scer\GAL4Switch1.106) extends lifespan compared to siblings not fed RU486. Mrp4EP3177 overexpression by Scer\GAL4da.PU shortens lifespan compared to wild type.
Flies expressing Mrp4EP3177 using Scer\GAL4da.G32, Scer\GAL4Act.PU, Scer\GAL4elav.PU, Scer\GAL4442 or Scer\GAL4Ddc.PL, but not Scer\GAL4repo.PU or Scer\GAL4how-24B, display a profound increase in recovery time after anoxia compared with controls.

Mrp4ex11/Mrp4EP3177 and Mrp4ex31/Mrp4EP3177 flies show the same recovery time after anoxia as controls.
Mrp4EP3177/Mrp4ex661 and Mrp4EP3177/Mrp4ex621 flies show an increase in recovery time after anoxia compared with controls.
No pupae form when Mrp4EP3177 is expressed with Scer\GAL4da.G32 or Scer\GAL4elav.PU under chronic hypoxia conditions. This is in contrast to Scer\GAL4how-24B Mrp4EP3177 flies and controls which show no larval developmental defects and die during late pupal stages under the same conditions.
