Mutants progress normally through development and have a normal lifespan when maintained on standard growth media. However, these animals are sensitive to ethanol and oxidative stress, resulting from either paraquat treatment or hyperoxia - mutants show a 50% reduction in lifespan relative to controls in response to hyperoxia and hold their wings erect (indicative of mitochondrial dysfunction and muscle degeneration).
Although fully viable and fertile, Sdhaf3null flies display an age-dependent reduction in motility.
Sdhaf3null has abnormal oxidative stress response phenotype, suppressible | partially by Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI/Sod2UAS.cUa
Sdhaf3null has abnormal oxidative stress response phenotype, non-suppressible by CG34229UAS.cNa/Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI
SdhBEY12081, Sdhaf3null has partially lethal phenotype
Sdhaf3null is rescued by Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI/Sdhaf3UAS.cNa
Sdhaf3null is partially rescued by Sdhaf3UAS.cNa/Scer\GAL4C57
Sdhaf3null is partially rescued by Scer\GAL4elav.PU/Sdhaf3UAS.cNa
Sdhaf3null is not rescued by Scer\GAL4Cg.PA/Sdhaf3UAS.cNa
Sdhaf3null is not rescued by Scer\GAL4mex1.2.1/Sdhaf3UAS.cNa
Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI-mediated expression of Sdhaf3Scer\UAS.cNa rescues the hyperoxia sensitivity and climbing defects of Sdhaf3null mutants, while Scer\GAL4C57- or Scer\GAL4elav.PU-mediated expression provides partial rescue.
