Axn127 mutant larvae are more sensitive to fasting than controls, and this sensitivity can be largely suppressed by the addition of glutamine to food. Fasting also results in increased levels of apoptosis in Axn127 mutant eye disc clones compared to controls. Very little apoptosis is seen in non-fasted Axn127 mutant eye discs.
