Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1Cs.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with 627 nm (red) light) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R32D11 and Hsap\RELAAD.R58E02 in adult females, in combination with a paired odor, results in a short-term associative appetitive olfactory memory for this odor; preference is significantly greater when these neurons are not also activated during the testing period.
