    Scer\GAL4NP7506 drives expression in mechanosensory neurons in around two-thirds of labellar pseudotracheal taste pegs which project to the AMS2 and AMS3 regions of the anterior maxillary sensory center and the LS3 region of the labial sensory center. Expression is also observed in the two mechanosensory bristles on the lateral surface. Faint labeling is detected in some neurons of the maxillary palpus.

    Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRCsChrimson.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with 617 nm (red) light) of Scer\GAL4NP7506 cells in adults results in induction of proboscis retraction due to stimulation during feeding, compared to controls; there is no induction of labellar spread, compared to controls.

    Inhibition (using Ctet\tetXTNT-LC.UAS) of Scer\GAL4NP7506 cells in adults, does not affect responses of Scer\GAL4GMR58H01-expressing motor neurons to labellar caffeine application, compared to controls.
