caz² hemizygous males bearing one copy of caz^+tMa do not show any obvious adult lifespan or climbing ability (i.e. speed), as compared to controls. Adult caz² hemizygous males expressing caz^{UAS.x10.Tag:FLAG} under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav-C155, however, exhibit a significant decrease in climbing ability (i.e. speed), as compared to controls.

caz² hemizygous males exhibit lethality during P-stage, with a subset of animals developing to pharate adults that fail to eclose from the pupal case, and a very small fraction of adult escapers. When partially eclosed pharate adults are dissected out of their pupal case, these flies exhibit severe motor coordination phenotypes and die within a day.
