ash1W770mut is a dominant enhancer of eye pigment variegation observed in the E1 (combination of gypsy{}ci-E1, P{lacW}Dplac) and Pci (P{lacW}Dplac) backgrounds; no eye pigmentation silencing is observed in a P{lacW}3-76a background.

ash1W770mut is a significant dominant suppressor of eye pigment variegation observed in the In(1)w[m4] background.

The following transheterozygotes are lethal: ash1W770mut/Df(3L)Exel9007, ash1W770mut/ash1W790term, ash1W770mut/ash1Q893term, ash1W770mut/ash1N303mut and ash1W770mut/ash1H1873W.
