The mutation was originally reported as Ser to Amber but was corrected to Gln to Amber.
trxS2582a homozygotes and trxS2582a/trxS2582b transheterozygotes are lethal, and trxS2582a/trxR1578mut transheterozygotes are near lethal.
trxS2582a is a dominant enhancer of eye pigment variegation observed in the E1 (combination of gypsy{}ci-E1, P{lacW}Dplac) and Pci (P{lacW}Dplac) backgrounds; in a P{lacW}3-76a background, however, only females show significant eye pigmentation silencing.
trxS2582a is a female-only dominant suppressor of the eye pigment variegation observed in the In(1)wm4 background.
P{lacW}Dplac, trxAM2 has enhancer of variegation | dominant phenotype, enhanceable by ash1[+]/ash1AM1
trx[+]/trxAM2 is an enhancer of enhancer of variegation | dominant phenotype of P{lacW}Dplac, ash1AM1
The following double heterozygotes are viable: ash1Q893term/+, trxS2582a/+; ash1N303mut/+, trxS2582a/+; ash1H1873W/+, trxS2582a/+; and ash1W770mut/+, trxS2582a/+. The following double heterozygotes are semi-viable compared to controls: ash1W790term/+, trxS2582a/+ double heterozygotes.
ash1N303mut/+, trxS2582a/+ double heterozygous females show a dominant enhancer of eye pigment variegation phenotype which is more severe than either single heterozygote.
