The number of of tergal depressor of trochanter (TDT) muscle fibers is reduced in dpp¹⁰⁶³⁸ heterozygotes.

Approximately 50% of eggs laid by heterozygous females have shortened and abnormally shaped respiratory appendages.

(Dequier et al., 2001)

The external genitalia of dpp¹⁰⁶³⁸/dpp^d12 males are highly defective and the penis apparatus is less defective. dpp¹⁰⁶³⁸/dpp^d12 females show duplication of the thorn bristles accompanied by an absence of long bristles.
