Detailed Description

Homozygous adults are short lived (they all die by approximately 10 days after eclosion).

Mutant flies show increased resistance to the nAChRα6 agonist spinosad compared to wild-type controls.

Homozygotes cannot fly or jump, they can only walk slowly with an unstable gait, sometimes when standing still they exhibit body tremors. In most mutants the DLMs exhibit frequent bursting activity due to defects in the CNS.

Semi-lethal, only 10% of first instar larvae survive to adulthood and these are less abnormal than higP1. Larval locomotor activity is uncoordinated. higdd37 homozygous larvae are stubby.

Complementation and Rescue Data
Partially rescued by

higdd37 is partially rescued by higD12.hs

Comments

Heat shock of higD12.hs during pupariation rescues higdd37 defective adult locomotion. rescued adults can jump, fly and do not exhibit body tremors.

higD12.hs rescues more than 30% of higdd37 flies to adults and exhibits partial rescue of the abnormal locomotion.
