ScerGAL45-HTR1B drives expression in alpha'/beta' and gamma Kenyon cells that express 5-HT1B.

Drives expression in gamma Kenyon cells in the adult mushroom body.

ScerGAL45-HT1B.PY drives expression in the anterior and posterior rings of the ellipsoid body. In the latter, expression is observed in the innermost and in an outer ring. Rings in the midportion of the ellipsoid body and an anterior region of the cortex are also labelled.

ScerGAL45-HT1B.PY expresses in cells adjacent to (but not a part of) the insulin secreting cells of pars intercerebralis, as well as ellipsoid body and bulb. No colocalization in insulin secreting cells is seen with anti-Ilp2 staining in adults or larvae.

ScerGAL45-HTR1B drives expression in neurons expressing serotonin receptor 1B

Inhibition (using shits1.IVS.p10.20xUAS at 32[o]C) of Scer\GAL45-HT1B.PY cells in adults during retrieval alone, but not acquisition and consolidation, significantly reduces 24-hour associative olfactory water-reward memory, compared to controls; inhibition has no effect on odor acuity or water preference, compared to controls.

Inhibition (using shi1.UAS at 33[o]C) of Scer\GAL45-HT1B.PY cells in adults during testing significantly reduces 3 min, 1 h and 3 h aversive or appetitive olfactory memory, compared to controls; reduction in 3 h aversive or appetitive memory, and 1 h appetitive memory, is no longer seen when inhibition is restricted to a smaller subset of Scer\GAL45-HT1B.PY cells using Scer\GAL80Mef2.mb247; inhibition of the combined set of Scer\GAL45-HT1B.PY cells and Scer\GAL4c739 significantly reduces 3 h and 3 min aversive or appetitive memory, compared to controls; inhibition of Scer\GAL45-HT1B.PY cells has no effect on naive preferences for odors, shock or sugar, compared to controls.
