rhohs.sev flies display a rough eye phenotype at 18[o]C.

Flies that express one copy of rhohs.sev have a rough eye phenotype.

Flies expressing rhohs.sev have a rough eye phenotype.

Eye defects are dose-sensitive. Rough eye phenotype is caused primarily by the presence of supernumerary photoreceptor cells but also by missing pigment cells and misorientations of the ommatidia.

Ectopic expression causes non-neural mystery cells transformed into photoreceptors.

rho-5KO1/+ strongly enhances the rough eye phenotype seen in rhohs.sev.

Co-expression of rho-5Scer\UAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF suppresses the rough eye phenotype seen when rhohs.sev is overexpressed.

rhohs.sev rough eye phenotype is enhanced in the presence of Fas2G0293/+ or Fas2EB112/+ at 18[o]C.

The rough eye phenotype seen when flies express one copy of rhohs.sev is enhanced when these flies are heterozygous for the following Gug alleles: Gug35, Gug03928, Gug1207D6 and Gug14967.

Expression of GugScer\UAS.cCa, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, suppresses the rough eye phenotype of rhohs.sev-expressing flies. This phenotype is also suppressed by coexpression of GugUbi-p63E.T:Avic\GFP.

The rhohs.sev rough eye phenotype is dominantly enhanced by styS73 or styS88.

Reduction in dose of spi rescues the rhohs.sev eye to a near wild-type phenotype; regular array of ommatidia, regular arrangement of photoreceptors and unbroken lattice of pigment cells. Rescue is not always complete. Mutations in Egfr, Ras85D, Sos and S also rescue the mutant phenotype. Reduction in the dose of aop enhances all the defects seen in rhohs.sev eyes.
