Detailed Description

phyl2245 homozygous clones in the adult midgut have a significantly decreased number of cells, as compared to controls; these clones virtually lack both mitotic cells and enteroendocrine cells, which are present in control clones, but include abnormally large and polyploid cells.

phyl2245 mutant somatic clones in pupal eye discs promote over-specification of primary pigment cell fates through the build-up of N internally.

phyl4/phyl2245 flies have a greatly reduced number of bristles on the notum compared to wild type.

phyl2245/phyl4 adults lack some bristles and other bristles are abnormal. Homozygous clones have missing and abnormal bristles. More than 80% of the neurons and sheath cells of the es organs are missing in the dorsal-most region of the abdominal hemisegments in homozygous embryos, although only 12% of es organs are completely absent in this region. The dorsal-most region of the hemisegment usually contains 6 outer support cells (hair cells and socket cells) with one neuron and one sheath cell in homozygous embryos (instead of the wild-type 4 outer support cells, two neurons and two sheath cells), and occasionally 8 outer support cells are seen.

The over-specification of primary pigment cell fates found in phyl2245 mutant somatic clones is suppressed in phyl2245 mib1 double mutants. These double mutants also exhibit significant rescue in the specification of B-H1-expressing R1 and R6 cell types.

Dominantly suppresses the S phase defects seen in the CycEJP eye disc.

The lethality caused by sevS11.T:Hsap\MYC in combination with Ras85DV12.sev is suppressed by phyl2245.

Suppresses the rough eye phenotype of Ras85DV12.sev. Slightly suppresses the phenotype of Ras85DN17.sev. Suppresses the phenotype of phl::tor13D.hs.sev. Suppresses the phenotype of Ras85D::Src64BV12.ΔCAAX.sev. Has little or no effect on the lethality of phl12. Has little or no effect on the phl12 eye phenotype. Has little or no effect on the Dsor1XS520 eye phenotype. Has little or no effect on the aopS2382 eye phenotype.

Dominantly suppresses the rough eye and supernumerary R7 phenotype of Ras85DV12.sev : 43% of the ommatidia in the center of the eye are wild type. Dominantly suppresses the rough eye and supernumerary R7 phenotype of phl::tor13D.hs.sev. Dead larvae have normally patterned cuticle.
