Detailed Description

The wing discs of wtsP2/Df(3R)Exel8194 mutants are overgrown compared to controls.

wtsP2 mutant eye clones show robust survival of extra pigment cells in the pupal retina at approximately 20 hours after pupal formation.

wtsP2 heterozygotes do not show any abnormalities in wing vein patterning.

Hyperplastic overgrowth mutant. Apico-lateral junctional complexes appear normal.

wts tumour phenotype in mitotic clones: overproliferation and apical hypertrophy of epithelial cells leading to abnormal deposition of cuticle. Imaginal discs display remarkable hyperplasia of all imaginal discs and apical hypertrophy.

The overgrowth of the wing discs characteristic for wtsP2/Df(3R)Exel8194 mutants can be partially suppressed by combination with ZyxΔ41/ZyxΔ41.

A wtsP2 heterozygous background significantly enhances the mild dominant wing crossvein defect seen in dcole88/Df(3R)A177der20 flies carrying dcot.L39Q. The extra vein fragment is present in more than 90% of the transheterozygotes. The fragment is usually enlarged, and most of the wings show additional extra vein material not present in either heterozygous combination. Wing size is also significantly increased in these flies.
