Tork17004/+ flies have eyes similar to wild-type.
Mutant flies fed a high-fat diet do not show an increase in triglyceride levels, in contrast to wild-type controls fed this diet.
Mutant flies have impaired geotaxic ability when fed a normal food diet, and this phenotype is exacerbated on a high-fat diet.
Mutant flies show considerable protection against deterioration of heart function compared to controls when placed on a high-fat diet. The mutant flies have unchanged heartbeat and contractility parameters on a normal food diet and on a high-fat diet, which are comparable to the values seen in wild-type flies on a normal food diet. The incidences of conduction blocks, dysfunctional ostia and non-contractile myocardial regions are as low in the mutant flies under normal food or high-fat diet conditions as in wild-type flies on a normal food diet. Myocardial structure remains intact in the mutant flies under a high-fat diet.
Tork17004 homozygous animals show growth arrest in the second/early third instar larval stages, and markedly delayed growth.
Tork17004 homozygous animals show lipid vesicle aggregation in the fat body of second/early third instar larvae.
Cell and nuclear size of the salivary gland cells are markedly reduced in Tork17004 larvae.
Homozygotes hatch at normal rates, but grow more slowly than normal and eventually arrest during larval development, reaching only 40% the mass of wild-type controls. The mutants remain viable and active during an extended larval period of about 30 days and eventually die without pupating.

Tork17004/+ in larvae expressing LpindsRNA.hs (induced by heat shock) leads to a reduction in fat body mass and a transparent appearance of larvae; an increase in pupal lethality as compared to larvae expressing LpindsRNA.hs in a wild type background; and the fat bodies from these larvae are smaller; but lipid droplets in the fat bodies of these larvae exhibit a similar size reduction as those in larvae expressing LpindsRNA.hs in a wild type background.
Tork17004 partially suppresses the rough eye phenotype seen when Dcp-1Scer\UAS.cKa (insertion line P{UAS-Dcp-1.K}19-2) is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.
Tork17004 homozygous animals in a heterozygous Atg1EP3348 or Atg1Δ3D genetic background grow faster, and extend their developmental stage to mid/late third instar larval stage. Double homozygous animals survive to mid-late third instar larval stage.
Lipid vesicle aggregation in the fat body of Tork17004 homozygous second/early third instar larvae is suppressed in a heterozygous Atg1EP3348 or Atg1Δ3D genetic background.
Tork17004 mutant larvae heterozygous for Atg1EP3348 or Atg1Δ3D show a partially rescued cell and nuclear salivary gland size.
Tork17004/+ partially suppresses the eye-phenotype associated with EBV\BRLF1GMR.PA-expression.
Tork17004/+ partially enhances the eye-phenotype associated with EBV\BRLF1GMR.PA-expression.
