Expression of Pi3K21BScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU (in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the adult stage) results in increased sensitivity to ethanol-induced sedation, as compared to controls.

Over-expression of Pi3K21BScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 driven by Scer\GAL4da.PU results in the majority of embryos failing to hatch; larvae that do hatch live for 5-7 days as first instar larvae without growing in size, and have morphological abnormalities in the fat body (larger lipid droplets forming in the adipocytes).

Over-expression of Pi3K21BScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 driven by Scer\GAL4en.PU results in pupal lethality and significantly reduced pupa size, compared to controls; when expression is driven by Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 in the wing disc, adult wings are small and have curly edges.

Expression of Pi3K21BScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA leads to lethality in larval and pupal stages, with severe reductions in larval fat body mass and fat body cell size, as compared to controls.

Central nervous system neuroblasts of fed larvae expressing Pi3K21BScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA show no significant difference in EdU incorporation compared to controls.

Expression of Pi3K21BScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4Adh.PF, Scer\GAL4en-e16E or Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP has no effect on viability under starvation conditions.

When expression is driven is imaginal disc cells by Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP the size of the cells is reduced (as measured by FSC (forward scatter)). Overexpression of Pi3K21BScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 or Pi3K21BScer\UAS.Δ.T:Ivir\HA1 is sufficient to reduce the rate of increase of cell number.
