E161K
Site of nucleotide substitution in mutant inferred by FlyBase based on reported amino acid change.
decreased size | larval stage (with mTorΔP)
5-15% of TorE161K mutants are able to survive to adulthood. These escapers are about half the size of wild type and are developmentally delayed by 2 days at 25oC. Escaper flies are 10:1 female:male and both genders are sterile. Ovaries dissected from TorE161K females display arrested development and increased cell death at a previtellogenic stage. Testes are abnormal and have a grossly enlarged apical tip.

Selected as: a mutation that is lethal in trans to the TorΔP deletion.
The TorE161K chromosome carries a second lethal mutation.
