In Abd-B^T2N/Abd-B^M1 hemizygotes the seventh abdominal tergite (T7) is fully developed, indicating a transformation toward a more anterior abdominal segment identity when compared with wild-type. The eighth abdominal tergite (T8) also shows a partial transformation toward a more anterior identity.

Abd-B^LDN/Abd-B^M1 female flies show an absence of genitalia. Occasionally these flies have a small eighth sternite with a few bristles. Abd-B^LDN/Abd-B^M1 females have an abnormally large seventh tergite and this tergite is also present in Abd-B^LDN/Abd-B^M1 males, although it is not present in wild-type males.

Expression of abd-A^{1dB5.Scer\UAS} cannot suppress the absence of genitalia in Abd-B^LDN/Abd-B^M1 female flies, not the presence of a large seventh tergite in both male and female Abd-B^LDN/Abd-B^M1 flies. abd-A^{1dB5.Scer\UAS} expression is driven by the P{GAL4}Abd-B^LDN insertion in the Abd-B^LDN flies.
