Serotonergic neuron branches can be found close to neuron branches of the ScerGAL4Ilp2.PW-positive insulin secreting cells of the pars intercerebralis.
ScerGAL4Ilp2.PW drives expression in the insulin producing cells (IPC cells) of the pars intercerebralis. These cells comprise a dorsal subset of the median neurosecretory cells. Expression of ScerGAL4Ilp2.PW is found in their arborisations along the median bundle and in the tritocerebrum. Puncta of GABA-B-R2 protein are visible in the arborisation of the IPC cells, co-localising with ScerGAL4Ilp2.PW expression.
