When fed on a low carbohydrate diet (0% sucrose supplement), no developmental delay is observed for Scer\GAL4Cg.PA FASN1GD14739 (plus Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa) animals. In contrast, when fed a 10% or 20% sucrose supplemented diet, these animals exhibit a 2-8 day delay, respectively.

The size of cells in flip-out Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP FASN1GD14739 (plus Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa) clones is almost normal in larvae fed a low carbohydrate diet, but is drastically reduced in larvae fed a 20% sucrose supplemented diet.

Expression of FASN1GD14739 under the control of Scer\GAL4sal.BO (in combination with a Dicer-2 transgene to enhance RNAi efficiency) does not result in larval lethality at the L2/L3 transition.

Expression of CG3523GD14739 in the gut under the control of Scer\GAL4Adh.PF reduces larval hemolymph diacylglycerol (DAG) by 30%.

Expression of CG3523GD14739 under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in slight curling of the wing.

Animals co-expressing Glo1GD12888 and FASN1GD14739 (plus Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa) via Scer\GAL4Cg.PA exhibit a high rate of larval lethality and developmental delay that dramatically increases concurrently with sucrose concentration.
