The expression of Drp1GD10456 under the control of Scer\GAL4dome-PG14 leads to the blood progenitors in the third instar larva lymph gland to show mitochondria with longer branches; there is a decrease in the number of crystal cells.

Loss of Drp1, through expression of Drp1GD10456 under the control of Scer\GAL4fog results in defects in the ventral furrow, with a quarter of embryos exhibiting an irregular shallow line in place of the ventral furrow. twi-positive cells are seen at the surface in the region of the ventral furrow, indicating asynchronous and/or delayed invagination of the blastoderm. More commonly, the T-bar fails to forma 'ring' as it does in wild-type embryos.

Expression of Drp1GD10456 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU has no effect on mitochondrial length in adult neurons. The amount of cell death and cell cycle activation are similar to controls, as are levels of superoxide production.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR results in adult/pharate lethality.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in bristle morphology defects on the notum in 0% or 10-20% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 expression domain, depending on the insertion line used.
