The majority of twf110 mutant animals die as larvae. 2.2% of animals survive to adulthood.

The majority of twf110/twf102 mutant animals die as larvae. 2.2% of animals survive to adulthood.

β lobes of the mushroom body cross the midline in approximately 50% of twf110 and 20% of twf110/Df(3R)su(Hw)7 mutant animal brains. In severe cases, the two β lobes are completely fused. β loves are bifurcated and thickened. 50% of twfEP3701 mutants display unilateral or bilateral loss of the adult mushroom body α lobe.

β lobes of the mushroom body cross the midline in approximately 50% of twf110/twf102 mutant animal brains. In severe cases, the two β lobes are completely fused. β loves are bifurcated and thickened. 60% of twfEP3701 mutants display unilateral or bilateral loss of the adult mushroom body α lobe.

At 29[o]C twfEP3701/twf110 mutant animals display a moderate but significant delay in border cell migration.

twf110 mutant border cell clones display delayed migration at 25[o]C. 52% of clusters containing twf110 mutant clones display a migration delay, compared to 4% of control clones.

twf110 animals show defects in endocytosis at the synaptic bouton, but no defects in exocytosis are observed. Treatment with a low concentration of latriculin A (0.1 μM) does not significantly effect endocytosis in twf110 mutants, compared to a significantly reduced level of endocytosis in treated controls. Treatment with a high concentration of latriculin A (10 μM) completely blocks endocytosis in both mutant and control animals.

twf110 and twf110/Df(3R)su(Hw)7 mutants both show compromised neurotransmission under intense stimulation (10Hz to the nerve for 600 seconds). A decrease in postsynaptic excitatory junctional potentials (EJPs) is observed compared to controls. Basal transmission upon low levels of stimulation (0.3 Hz) is not affected in twf110 and twf110/Df(3R)su(Hw)7 mutants.

The bristles of twf110 adult escapers show forked tips and severely twisted ridges. Bristle length is significantly shorter compared to controls.

Expression of twfScer\UAS.cWa under the control of Scer\GAL4C57 partially rescues lethality of twf110 mutant animals. 22% of animals survive to adulthood.

Expression of twfScer\UAS.cWa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU partially rescues lethality of twf110 mutant animals. 70% of animals survive to adulthood.

Expression of twfScer\UAS.cWa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU rescues lethality of twf110 mutant animals. 100% of animals survive to adulthood.

Pre-synaptic expression of twfScer\UAS.cWa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU completely rescues the enhanced decrease in postsynaptic excitatory junctional potentials in twf110 mutant animals.
